SEBASTIEN TELLIER

Eccentric French musician Sebastien Tellier has long been a fan of creative collaborations. While touring in support of his debut album "L'incroyable Vérité" he was joined on stage by world-renowned thereminist Pamelia Kurstin and his 2004 release "Politics" featured former Fela Kuti drummer Tony Allen. Tellier's upcoming album is called "Sexuality" and the producers are none other than his good friends, electronic legends Daft Punk. Like all of Tellier's other releases, "Sexuality" will be put out by AIR's label, Record Makers and the first single, "Sexual Sportswear" has already dropped. The sound is quite a departure from Tellier's usual spacey pop but don't get me wrong, it's still trippy but in a different way. The sound is very ambient Daft Punk — much like the score of the duo's recent art house film "Electroma." Visit Seb's MySpace and stream "Sexual Sportswear" to hear it for yourself. Die hard fans should also check him out in the short film "Pink Cowboy Boots" costarring the lovely Rob from fellow French band Phoenix. - AL

COCONUT RECORDS

For those who may find it hard to take Jason Schwartzman "the musician" seriously [yes! BK], may we remind you of the fact that he was drumming for Phantom Planet long before Wes Anderson made him a star? Not helping? Too bad. Schwartzman's new solo music project is called Coconut Records and although he hasn't strayed too far from his former band's accessible California sound, it is still pretty great. Yeah, so each song features a predictable triumphant chorus and there are some mildly irritating guest appearances from Hollwood A-Listers (Kirsten Dunst on the kazoo anyone?) but it's a dreary December in New York City and sometimes we like to listen to sunny pop music and dance to it, OK?! Just pick up the Coconut Records EP at Opening Ceremony and experience its lovely undeniable goodness for yourself. - AL

CUT OFF YOUR HANDS

Meet Cut Off Your Hands. This New Zealand quartet has not only captivated the jaded international music industry, they have also become Kate Moss' favorite new artist. Their demo EP (passed down to her from ex Pete Doherty) is what she likes to listen to when she gets one of her house parties started. Parties with Naomi Campbell and Stella McCartney and the like. The Band's danceable pop rock has been described as a cross between Split Enz and Gang of Four and is so catchy and energetic that you will find it nearly impossible not to shake your hips to it. Cut Off Your Hands hasn't even released a full album yet but they have been touring the world for almost a year and have captivated every audience they've played to. Check out their MySpace to hear some tunes and stay updated on the band's forthcoming release. - AL

BRIGITTE BARDOT FLATS

In 1956, legendary Parisienne sex pot Brigitte Bardot asked ballet-wear designer Rose Repetto to make her a pair of custom ballet flats for the now legendary mambo dance scene in Vadim's classic flim "...And God Created Woman." Bardot soon skyrocketed to popularity and both she and the ballet flat have been icons of French fashion ever since. In celebration of Rose Repetto's 60th birthday, Bardot joined forces with the brand once again to design a modern, personalized version of her favorite piece of footwear. Only sixty pairs of the new Brigitte Bardot flat will be made available to the public and each one is customized with heart and daisy charms. - AL

CHRIS KRAUS

Destiny's Child and all their songs about female empowerment have nothing on Chris Kraus. The eccentric writer/filmmaker moved to New York City from New Zealand in the 1970's as a penniless artist and paid her bills by doing menial office work and dancing in strip clubs. She started performing in experimental theatre groups and soon met her husband to-be, Sylvere Lotringer, a prominent downtown philospher from Columbia University with whom she made her first film "Gravity and Grace". Most of Kraus' work is autobiographical which is interesting when you consider the fact that her memoirs are called "Aliens & Anorexia" and "I Love Dick," and are all packed with twisted erotic humor. Kraus has also made a name for herself in the contemporary art world where she frequently provides critiques of up and coming LA artists for various publications. You can buy a vast majority of Kraus' work on Amazon. - AL

FERRARI SEGWAY

For only $10,299.16 you can own a Ferrari. A Ferrari Segway that is. In an ambitious attempt to associate the brand with new cutting edge transportation, Ferrari has released the limited edition Segway PT i2, which allows you to zoom through traffic at a whopping 24 miles per hour. The i2 features a genuine leather handlebar and adjustable leanstear frame to make your riding experience more luxurious. But look out- the official website issues a warning that "life on an i2 is highly addictive. Once you've experienced it, you'll find yourself constantly looking for opportunities to sail along the sidewalks." Sweet. - AL

THE SHORT FILMS OF FRANCOIS OZON

Francois Ozon is one of the most celebrated and controversial contemporary directors in Europe today. He is the bad boy of French cinema and his films have never failed to mesmerize and shock an audience. Ozon, who has directed such acclaimed works as "Swimming Pool" (which co-starred the inimitable Charlotte Rampling) ["Nightporter"-BK] and "Water Drops on Burning Rocks" is a huge fan of the short film and is a master at giving us quick and entertaining glimpses into the twisted lives of the bizarre characters that he loves to create. In his latest collection of short films available now on DVD, the themes of love, death, homosexuality and perversion run deep but are always shown in the trademark Ozon fashion, showcasing both the tragic and humorous sides of every situation. The most well-known film included in the compilation is "Un Lever de Rideau" starring the pin-up boy of independent French cinema, Louis Garrel, who plays Bruno, a young Parisian who is so disgusted by his lover's constant tardiness that he decides to banish her from his life for good (after sleeping with her of course). Rent this DVD for a night of crazy sex and laughter (on your TV screen at least). - AL

ENEMY BOOK

Have you seen that Aziz Ansari bit on YouTube where he talks about how he thinks that MySpace should allow you to collect enemies instead of friends? That way, when you visit someone's profile, you can say "Damn. That guy has 350 enemies. I'm sure glad I'M not on that list." The creators of the new Facebook application, Enemybook feel the exact same way. This feature allows Facebook members to add the profiles of their enemies just as they would friends. Users can describe why they hate each enemy and can become friends with their enemy's enemies. In this new online social networking age where people secretly stalk the profiles of whom they can't stand, users can now make their hate official. Just don't add me. - AL

STYLE LISTS

LISBON, PORTUGAL

ABOUT MORGAN:
Parisienne & lover of NYC
Development for on-fire Paris web design shop supergazol.com (Air, EA)

Lisbon is the little Miami of Europe. This beautiful city isn't a major economic capital but people come in droves to experience the city's warmth, and the relaxed "southern" vibe here.
The city is reinventing itself. By night, the docks become the center of nightlife. Former industrial spaces have become restaurants and bars, and the Docas district is dense with trendsetting design boutiques.
In Lisbon, one dines late and parties even later!
Theses are my favorite addresses:

RESTAURANT: ESPACO LISBOA
Superb food. This restaurant is located in a former foundry, in the alcantara district.
Succulent traditional Portuguese cuisine with a contemporary approach and great service. Rua da Cozinha Economica

BAR/LOUNGE: KUBO

Kubo is located on the docks of Lisbon, and features a breathtaking view of the Tagus river and the City... Sip a Caipirinha on a white leather beds at sunset while enjoying a chilled-out music mix. Simply beautiful.
Address: Rua Da Cintura

CLUB: LUX

Co-owned by John Malkovich, Club Lux is Lisboa's best club — I love this place! This elegant venue has 2 floors and a roof-deck with magnificent views of the docks.

Don't miss the Lux Jazz Sessions on Wednesdays: live shows followed by DJ's. The vibe combines funk & soul with an international flavor (Serge Gainsbourg at 3 in the morning!). The best DJ's have played here: Justice, Digitalism, Laurent Garnier, Ivan Smagghe, CSS, Booka Shade.

Address: Armazem A, Av. Infante D. Henrique

FASHION: MOUSSE

Reminds me of Colette in Paris though much smaller.

Features Portugal's best fashion designers, vintage furniture, and an impressive selection of music on vinyl.
Address: 41-43, Rua Das FLores

Also, for shopping in Lisbon, go to the Bairro Alto for the local brands, and great vintage clothing shops, especially on the Rua do Seculo and the Rua Do Norte — check out a store called Lomo.

The Wallpaper City Guide is great for sightseeing — or you can let chance guide you as you walk the city. Don't forget to take breaks at sidewalk cafes!

Travel Advisory: Sorry fashionistas but high heels are not recommended. You risk your life (or a bad sprain) on Lisbon's smooth pavement and steep inclines.
