Luciana Souza's new record

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Luciana Souza "The New Bossa Nova" CD (Verve) is in stores now!

Produced by Larry Klein ( Joni Mitchell, Madeleine Peyroux) this record offers
songs by Leonard Cohen, Randy Newman, Brian Wilson, Steely Dan, James Taylor, and others arranged in the Bossa Nova style.
Includes a duet with James Taylor: "Never Die Young".

The New Bossa Nova marks an exciting new chapter for the Brazilian-born vocalist and three-time Grammy® nominee. Luciana Souza is already widely acknowledged as one of jazz's most respected and accomplished vocalists. The 11-song album finds the artist crafting a fresh and highly personal variation on the beloved Bossa Nova style, matching Souza's exquisite, deeply-felt performances with spare, eloquent arrangements that place the emphasis squarely on the songs' timeless emotional truths.

So don't miss Luciana Souza Live in Concert this week at the Jazz Standard in NYC! Luciana and her quartet will be at the Jazz Standard in NYC August 24, 25, and 26
And on September 25, she will perform again in New York for Joe's Pub @ Central Park

Pink Cowboy Boots

"Pink Cowboy Boots" is a short film from France by Maria Larrea. It tells the endearing story of a girl working in a radio station who has a massive crush on a co-worker named Jean-Michel (played by Robin Coudert, keyboardist for AIR and Phoenix). The film also features a cameo by eccentric performer Sebastian Tellier. Although "Pink Cowboy Boots" is shot entirely in French with no subtitles, it is extremely easy to understand for those who don't speak the language. Have a look!

Terminal 5

Which venue in New York is programing in the same month The National, M.I.A, Justice, The Shins and the Decemberists?
This ambitious line-up is the one of Terminal 5 for October. Everything seems to be made to transform Terminal 5 in one of the main venue of the town.
It opens on October 11th, and tickets are already to sell on TERMINAL 5 website

José Gonzalez

If you still haven't heard about José Gonzalez, he is this young alien who already sold more than 700,000 records of his debut album "Veneer". With a Spanish name, this Swedish singer-songwriter is creating some magical folk songs and original acoustic covers of his friend The Knife, Bruce Springsteen, Joy Division or Kylie Minogue.
After four years of constant touring José González returns with his second album "In Our Nature" released September 25, 2007 and starts touring again...
If you get a chance go and see him at Spiegeltent in NYC on August 21, 2007. Untill then you still can watch this new video clip of "Down the Line" directed by Andreas Nilsson (already known for his amazing work on The Knife's songs):

MCCARREN POOL from Barcelona

What can you do when it's hot, it's your day off, and you live in Brooklyn near MCCarren Pool?
For the neophites, hipsters do not go to a swimming pool to swim anymore but to spend their afternoon listening to music, drinking and having sun.
The dominical ritual happened this week again.
Arrived at 4 pm, I finally reached the front raw and there I just contemplated the stage and the 21 persons singing and jumping on it who made me think first the Bloody Maries were maybe to strong on the morning.
But I think this is one of the expected "I'm from Barcelona"'s effects. You smile, you sing and clapping your hands you just try to understand what's really happening.
It is still under the sun that the headliners Blonde Rehead had replaced then the crazy Swedish band.
The sexy trio played untill sunset, and end the pool party in a beautiful way.
So addicted to postmodern pool afternoons?
